Sorry Heath,

I am not having much luck with this I am afraid. I am guessing some of your information has come from the BISA. I do see the arrival on the India you mention. (Both Duncan and Elizabeth Listed.

http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/fh/passengerlists/1840India.gif

I see no sign of a marriage or any births to this couple. No deaths listing relative Duncan, No marriages listing a father Duncan. Nothing at all on the wife. A widow Elizabeth married in 1854 but that is before the death of Duncan so not her. I did find Duncan's death but that is all I have found. He is not listed in the 1841 census.  :'(

MACFARLANE Duncan 27 Oct 1856 Mitcham Dist Ade 5 264 He was aged 63 years, Status, relative not recorded residence Mitcham.

There was a death notice

The Register on the 28 Oct 1856

On the morning of the 27th Oct, at his residence, near Glen Osmond, Duncan MACFARLANE Esq JP

Not sure if this one connects

Pastoral Pioneers of SA

mention of Captain Davidson. His guests include such well known people as Governor Grey, with whom he often played chess, Duncan McFarlane and Allen McFarlane Sen who were not related...........

Although the squire of Blakiston was on friendly terms with Duncan McFarlane, he was at loggerheads with  the latter's man, who threatened to impound his trespassing cattle. This entry occurs

" Sunday Dec 6 1840, finding our man did not return with the cows I went on horseback to see what was the matter, and found them separated into three lots, one of which Dick, Mr Duncan McFarlane's man was driving off. I Took them from him. He made a lame excuse."
