Thanks Darin - very much obliged!

This is the last information we need - as I confirmed this afternoon with UK National Archives Innocenso Maspero never naturalised to be a British citizen - however he was on the 1851 UK Census.

In order to complete ancestral visas for ourselves we need to prove to the Italian government the father Innocenso (to William Angelo the son), never naturalised- which means Italian citiizenship is passed from father to son at birth - Italian Government authorities will go back as many generations as is needed for ancestral purposes....

The only outstanding information we need it the birth certificate - which the Italian Consulate in CT have said will be very hard to find for a birth in 1790

let me know if you come across any more info - Ill do the same my side

Kind regards

Andrew

Hello chars
I believe the Maspero's were in leatherhead in Surrey when they first came to this country. Then quite a few moved to Cape Town South Africa

They were clockmakers and barometer makers. For a while they lived above the Dukes Head in high street, leatherhead.
My grandfather John Harry Maspers ( now deceased) aged92 is the son of William Angelo Maspero
He said they lived in Carshalton
Hope to hear from you soon
Gail

Hello Gail,

I have researched your William Angelo (he was my great great grandmother's little brother) and all of Innocenzo's children. They were all born in Carshalton, Surrey.

Innocenzo came to England in 1826 and resided in London, Clerkenwell? until he married his 1st wife Sarah King of Carshalton in 1827.

William Angelo is from Innocenzo's 2nd marriage (to Susan Daniels). After William's marriage to Martha Sarah Ann Cooke in 1870 they moved to Leatherhead. You can find him on the 1871 census living at The High Street (no door number).

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply Lei, and for the information.... Do you know any more of Inncensio and any information of the earlier time of his family in Capiago?

My grandfather was John Harry Maspers... The (o) was dropped at some point. His father was William Angelo ....

Regards
Gail

I too am related and my grandfathers father was William Angelo Maspero and my grandfather is Maspers...... The o must have got dropped at some point.

There is someone on here called Lei .... I have been in touch with her recently and we have shared her tree....I could put you in touch with her..... I should really like to see your tree.....

Also my mother Margaret North has done our tree on Ancestry.co.uk, as much as she could find out anyway.
She is not subscribed to it at present tho.
Feel free to contact me anytime.
