Carlisle family look up please

Hello,

Would anyone be able to look up William Carlisle (b.1857) on the 1901 census please. I'm almost certain that they live in Tow Law.

His wifes name is Dorothy, they should also have children living in the house.
I know of Robert, Frances, Dorothy, John George, Joseph and Walter.

The 1901 census on the website I've subscribed for doesn't seem to include Durham??

Living.. Inkermans Cotts, Towlaw

Wm 33 Coal Miner b Greencroft, Durham
Dorothy wife 29
Mary J dau 10
Edward son 9
Wm son 8
Margaret dau 6
Robert son 4
Frances E dau 2
Dorothy dau 4 1/2 mths.... all born Greencroft, Durham.

If not can you please post more details of their dates and places of birth please.

Well thats one good thing.

I have spent ages this afternoon trying to find them in 1901 but no luck so far,

Where do you know John George, Joseph and Walter from as they do not appear in 1891

Joseph, John George, Walter and Eva are all on the 1911 census, they're still living at Inkerman.

The 1911 census also states that Dorothy gave birth to 14 live children and that 11 were still alive. I've found 12 children on the various census results and I know that Edward died in 1903, but I'm having trouble finding the names of the last 2 children.

Hi Jacqueline,

There is something strange here, and I am quite confused  the children you mention John ,Joseph, Walter and Eva appear on the 1901 census as children of a Wm DIXON and a Dorothy.

Living North Rod, Towlaw.  RG13/4663/76/11

Wm Dixon 45 Coal Miner b Towlaw
Dorothy 40 wife
Mary dau 20
Edward son 19
Thomas son 18
Robert son  14
Frances dau 11
Dorothy dau 10
John son 8
Joseph son 6
Walter son 5
Eva dau 9 mths.

These all match exactly in ages  to the children of Wm Carlise and Dorothy in the 1891 census. 

Do these ages fit with the family on the 1911 census

OOh thats very strange!

Yes they ALL fit in with the 1911 census.

The weird thing is the address

in 1891 they are at Inkerman Cottages, and they're still there in 1911

Well Jacqueline,

To try and work this out, can you please post all the family details you have in the 1911 census.  do you have any birth certificates for any of the children, this would tell us who the parents are, before I go any further.

ROBERT CARLISLE - SON -AGE 23 COAL MINER- BORN TOW LAW

FRANCES CHARLTON - DAUGHTER -AGE 21- BORN TOW LAW (she has already married my great grandad. However he is also living with his own parents at the time.)

DOROTHY ANN CARLISLE  -DAUGHTER- AGE 20 - BORN TOW LAW

JOHN GEORGE CARLISLE -SON - AGE 18-COAL MINER - BORN TOW LAW

JOSEPH  CARLISLE- SON - AGE 16 - COAL MINER - BORN TOW LAW

WALTER HARRISON CARLISLE - SON - AGE 14 - STUDENT - BORN TOW LAW

EVA VICTORIA CARLISLE -  SON- AGE 10 - SCHOOL - BORN TOW LAW

Do you think they just put the wrong surname down on the 1901 census?
