Elizabeth Agnes married Ivan David Cook Scott in 1926

The Annie on the 1901 census is Sarah Annie and she died at the age of 12, Dumfries in 1906. It looks like her birth on FreeBDM - Sarah Annie at Kendal -  December quarter 1893

Mother - Mary Elizabeth nee Knowles died in Dryfesdale aged 56 in 1919

You may know who this is: Elizabeth Studholme, other name McKendry aged 81, died in Bargrennan/ Kirkcudbright, in 1921.

I have daughter Mary's marriage document for you.

I can't see her birth on FreeBDM.

Umm, just realised that John and Elizabeth were married in December quarter 1893 and that is the same as Sarah Annie's birth.

Also, that means it is highly likely that Mary isn't John's daughter. I have found a birth for a Mary Knowles, in Kendal, in June quarter 1891.

Have Mary's death document for you. She died in 1933 in Applegarth. Her age at death confirms her birth as being in 1891.

So, we have John and Elizabeth in England at the end of 1894 and then a birth in Dumfries in 1895.

HI jonjam,

Have just found your birth, unintentionally.

Now I understand your monika.  ;)

Some kind Dumfresian, of which there are many, may check for headstones at Dryfesdale cemetery, for you. Photos are always great to include with your records.

Just in case you weren't aware, your grandfather died in 1936 aged 72, in Dryfesdale.

Hi jonjam, Jamjar and ev

In September I have a weeks holiday so I will go over to Dryfesdale cemetery and look for any Studholme monuments, my gggrandfather Archibald Graham is buried there too but no headstone.

A lot of the headstones have weathered badly due to the graveyards hilltop location as I remember.

That would be nice of you, Wul.  :D

I've been through there a couple of time and have found my ancestors headstones.

All the names of folk buried there can be found on their office's computer. There was an extremely kind and helpful lady working there, also.

Hi to you

I have sent on the documents.

Do you have proof that Sarah Annie - Annie - wasn't their child. I think she may have been as she is named after John's mother.
