In an earlier post you mention Barnardo's and say it was then Nugent. Barnardo's was a completely different organisation.

Nugent was Catholic. On the post showing Alfred was Protestant it says Barnardo's on the one with Catholic Emmigration Society it is Catholic.

Was the one you are looking for Protestant or RC?

If he was Protestant I would contact Barnardo's in the UK. If he is RC I would contact the Nugent Society here in the UK.

Thank you so much. One of our relatives has some documentation up to 1926 - it was the Catholic emmigration association, but after he left their auspices in 1927, we have no record of him.
But the post about the sailing in 1921 has cleared up one thing - that he never used the surname May, which was causing confusion, I think that is what we need really - to put everything in some sort of order!

I had an e-mail from Albert Phillips' 9Brother of Alfred Phillips) grand-daughter a while ago
I decided a few weeks ago to get onto the story of Alfie, I am fairly sure that he returned to England and possibly it was to Manchester, because Alfie, wrote to my Granddad Albert, to ask for money to return home to England, but that was perhaps around 1920’s and Granddad sent money, but Alfie didn’t come back, then some time later he wrote again, but this time there was no money for him.
