Hi Toz

I am not 100% sure but I don't think there is a church at Fiskerton. I think the nearest churches are Morton & Rolleston.  Neither of these are covered on the Notts FHS CD for the year you want.

Sorry I can't add much, but there was only a chapel at Fiskerton (St. Mary) which was built in 1874 long after the baptism you seek. As Carol said, it could have been at Morton St. Denis or Rolleston Holy Trinity which is much older. You can find more information about the latter at the website: http://www.rollestonchurch.org.uk/index.html. The Rolleston registers are mostly on the IGI except for 1809-1812!  ::) There are a large number of Smiths at Rolleston and in the churchyard so it might be difficult to pin down the correct one without seeing the parish registers.

On the website www.raogk.com website, if you go to the England page there is a man who will kindly do a lookup at the Nottingham records office for you provided you have an approximate date and place. He might be able to help you with this.

I hope this helps a little.

Regards,
Alexander

Many thanks, Alexander for the advice. Will definitely look at that website. Perhaps a trip to Notts RO is in order! It was never going to be easy researching such a surname!!
