Hello Mike

Thank you for the info re John Lewitt. Could I ask your advise, is it possible that the workhouse was a kind of hospital?, seems strange that Ann gave the age on all census, at least 9 years younger than John, when giving the ages at the time of their deaths, they where about the same age.

Will send off for the death certifcates, many thanks again for all your help.

Maggie

Hello Mike

Can you help again? I was going to send for the death certifcates for John and Ann, but needed to check the Gro index number, I came across another John Lewitt, death Dec qtr 1857.

I was looking at some old notes I wrote down ages ago, and came across some burials taken from the family history on line web-site, for John Lewitt at Welford Road there was both of those you gave me, also the one above in 1857, which gave the age as 66, this one also fits with John's age on the census, so could you have a look for me before I send for his certifcate, I can remember now that I did't send for the certifcate, because I was not sure which was him.

Many thanks for all your help.

Hi can anyone help. I am still looking for the burial of John Lewitt, the one for Ann was correct, but I have now obtained 2 death certificates for John, Mar 1852 and Dec 1857, and both do not seem to be correct for him.
I have now found another death in  Dec 1859, I know John was a bricklayer labourer, born about 1801, s/o John and Elizabeth, born St Margarets, John senior was a bricklayer, I have found his death, with help from this site.

Can anyone check the 1859 death to see if it is the right one, I think a possible burial at  Welford Road.

Many thanks
Maggie

Hi Mike

Thanks for that, I will have to do a bit more research before sending for the death certificate, as I have the Lewitt family living in Baker St in the 1851 and 1861 census, also puts the problem re the marriage for John and Bridget Swann, as it makes John only 12 when they were married, will probably have to send for another child's birth certificate, to see if the maiden name of Ann is more clearer.

Thanks
Maggie
