Hi Stu
Sounds lke an imexciting connection between your families!
Meantime, as far as Liverpool is concerned, it's not so odd for one Tyson or Hartley, it's that the coonection was so common for so many families especially from this area!
Ar one time Whitehaven was the third largest port in England after Liverpool.
If you dreamed of being big in business or making a fortune, or seeing the world, the post was a good place to go, with so much business generated by the large number of people coming in to the town aand also passing through for a ship to Liverpool and hence emigration.
Goods were also needed both to equip and maintain the ships and also for cargoes to trade with other countries. If you wanted to go further afield, or expand business into export, it was, Whitehaven, to Liverpool and the world.
Also because of the costal trade, loads of local families married into Liverpool families and vivi verci aand indeed families especially from ports all over the country. If you look at the cendud, there are loads offamilies in Liverpool and Cumberland which have chi;ldren born in Liverpool and others in Cumberland.
Eskdale is a little way out, if they wanted to trade they travelled and also the population was moving out of agriculture and towards the laeger towns..
If you're lucky you maybe able to trace some of your family in trade or via the passenger lists travelling.
Good luck!
Keep us posted with what you find and there may beother records which will help.
Best wishes
Emms
