Hi Abbey Grange was an Abbey building associated with St Werberghs in Chester........ it had monks living there from way back when.............it could be the building you are looking for. It has a Monks Cottage nearby and the Abbey Grange is the more luxurious home that house monks and people from the church. Could it be they also had Nun's and it was some kind of orphanage at one time. It is currently for sale on Rightmove as Abbey Grange, Bridle Road, Wirral, CH62 if you wanted to get a closer look at it. Good luck with your search.
