Hi All,

A strange question I know, but i'm planning a trip ti Risca to do some digging into the family, as they were all from there.

I have never been, I will be coming from London.

Rather than drive, I thought I'd take the scenic route and get a coach....

Is Newport the best place to get to?... how far from Risca is it? anyone know any good B&B's

Ria, you should be able to get a coach direct to Risca. There are daily services from the Valleys to London. Alternatively, there's the train to Newport, then bus to Risca. I can't help you with B&B's in that area......try googling "Risca Accommodation"and see what you come up with. Will you be hiring a car to get around?

Hi

Thanks, I'm staying in Newport Hilton...then Risca isn't far from there I believe... I'll take a cab or something.....
I just thought I'd have a break from driving and enjoy it...
Did think about driving but the coach is £5 from London to Newport, Couldn't believe it.

What I need to find out is where the Record offices and Libraries are in relation to where i'm staying.

According to Multimap your hotel is about 10 miles from Risca.

Gwent Records Office is in The County Hall in Cwmbran.  They are not open on Mondays, but there is a great canteen !!
