I have another query this one regarding Theresa Martha Hall who left New Zealand aged 4 years old.

Hi Maggie

I can't see a birth in New Zealand for this Theresa Martha
HALL ??

You haven't said when she left NZ ...  so I don't know when she was born ?

*    Where did she marry ?

*    Do you have her marriage cert ?

Hi again

Re:   The HAINING family

Did part of this family move to Australia ?

I couldn't see a death in New Zealand for Mattie (Martha) ?
[There was one which could possibly have been her husband James ?)

Also found two of the HAINING sons died in NSW  .... did one of the others sons, remain in NZ ?

hello lu
well i am not sure as we trying to find out if martha trielby haining daughter of Martha/Mattie Tielle who married James Haining  in 1882 in New Zealand and Theresa Martha Hall are the one and the same person both being born in 1903. Theresa Martha Hall left New Zealand at the age of 4. Theresa Martha Hall married Francis Robert Fitzgerald in Australia and later married William John Donnison also in Australia. Can I have the names of the haining sons in nsw please.
regards maggie

Hi Maggie

I'll firstly list the HAINING births from the NZ Index (they may be of some help in sorting out the puzzle ?)

1885 - William Hirstfield HAINING - s/o Martha and James

1886 - Margaret Annie HAINING - d/o Mattie and James

1888 - James Peter HAINING - s/o Martha and James

1890 - Ivon Robert John HAINING - s/o Martha and James

1893 - Omega Gordon HAINING - s/o  Martha and James

1898 - Robert Norman HAINING - s/o Mattie and James

1903 - Martha Trielby HAINING - d/o Martha and James

[Note:   HAINING - there are not very many records for this surname in New Zealand so you'd have to guess that there was only one couple named James and Martha/Mattie HAINING ?]

HAINING children

The Auckland Museum Cenotaph website has the following listings for two WW1 soldiers :

HAINING - George (sic) Omego - # 6/2147

Next of Kin:   J. Haining (father) c/- J. Berryman *, Kings Avenue, Balgownie, Wanganui, NZ

[Christian name has been listed incorrectly - Archives NZ has WW1 service record in the name of "Gordon Omego HAINING" ]

*  The "J. Berryman"  connection in the above address, makes it seem likely that this could be the husband of Margaret Ann HAINING ??

                                      ----------------------

HAINING - Ivon John Robert - # 10/3577

Next of Kin:   J. Haining (father) - Kings Avenue, Wanganui :

Marriage - NZ index

Ivon John Robert HAINING - Violet Constance BARNES - 1920

Death - NZ index

1975 - HAINING - Ivon John Robert - aged 75 years

Hi Maggie

Hmmm ... I'm finding this a little puzzling, 'cos you haven't said whether (mother) Martha HAINING left New Zealand and went to Australia ?    :D

It would seem that her husband James was in (Wanganui - North Island) around the time his sons enlisted for war  1914-15 ... and also that the other daughter Margaret Ann (Margaret Annie?) was also there ?

I couldn't find a NZ death for a Mattie or Martha HAINING ?
There is a death registration for a James HAINING 1941 (place unknown) - aged 91 years - born circa 1850  ... but I can't confirm this is the right James ?

Did then, Mattie (Martha) leave for Australia around 1907 .... taking her youngest daughter Martha Trielby HAINING, with her ??
