1875 NY State Census Cayuga County

Does anyone have access to the state census records?  I am looking for James Dwyer married to Mina Dwyer in Auburn, Cayuga County, NY in 1875.

I have checked the Cayuga site, but unfortunately they don't have 1875 for Auburn.  James and Mina married after 1870 ( I found her still living with her parents on the 1870 census).  I can not find them at all on the 1880 census.  Since James died in 1888, the 1875 census is my last hope of finding them together on a census.

Donna, you may already have this, but Mina is listed in the 1889-92 Auburn, NY directory.  She was living at 6 Kelsey.  States she was the widow of James.  States her occupation as well.

If you know their places of birth and their approximate dates of birth, I could have a look on the 1880 census, if you like?

Hi Lisa!  The PM was fine.  I did have this info and knew about her occupation.  My grandmother used to tell me stories about her.  She said did this for a living out of the living room of the house she rented.  Strange.   Anyway, I have searched the 1880 census on line for Mina and James together, but no luck.  I searched it through Ancestry and the LDS website. 

James is the mystery.  The only thing I have found on him are the directories showing Mina as widowed to James Dwyer.  I was hoping to find him on the 1875 census to confirm when/where he was born.  St Joseph's cemetery has a James W. Dwyer who died 12/18/1888 age 31 so this could be him although that would have made him only 14/15 when they married??? 

Mina was born abt 1852 in NY.  The family moved to Michigan sometime before 1860 as they were found on the 1860 census in Tyrone, Livngston Co., Michigan

The moved back to Auburn, NY before 1870.
1870 census she was found still living with parents age 21 in Auburn.

Her first marriage to James Dwyer was probably abt 1872 since their first child Daniel was born abt 1872.  Daniels death certificate says he was born in Clyde (Wayne County), but his obit shows born in Auburn.

The couple had a least three children (Daniel, Albert and James) together before she was widowed. (The Auburn city directories for 1890 and 1892 and 1897/98 list her as Mina Dwyer, widow James.)

Her second marriage was to Dwyte Cline, who died bef 1906.  Mina's death certificate shows her as widowed by Dwyte Cline.

I've tried quite a few combinations; they are proving to be difficult to find in 1880!

May I ask Mina's last name please?  (Cannot find her in 1870 or 1860.)  I see that her parents were born in Vermont and England; just trying to verify that the 1900 census is correct.

Mina Adams.  My grandmother said her real name was Jemima.  Her mother was born in England, but not sure about her father.

The 1900 census shows Mina Cline as head of household and married for 3 years. This would indicate she married Dwyte abt 1897 and that Louise and Douglas are most likely children from Dwyte's previous marriage.  Dwyte was not listed with the family on this census so he may have died as early as 1900.  Mina was listed as mother of 11 with only 5 living and the address was a rented house at 53 North St. in Auburn. 

Auburn, New York 1906 shows Mina Cline, widow Dwight M,

1920 census shows Mina as head of household, widowed, age 72.  Living with her are son Dwight Cline age 23 and brother Daniel Adams age 60.

Mina died in 1929 and is buried in Fort Hill Cemetery. 

Unfortunately, James is the mystery.

Still hoping to eventually find James, but I've sometimes had a bit of luck finding people after I've put pieces of the puzzle together.

Another tiny piece of the puzzle is that Mina is shown as still married in 1900.  I wonder if Dwight was in hospital or away during the census.  He was listed as a teamster in 1889-92 and is noted as Dwight M Cline.

I have to leave for work soon, but will continue to try to find information, in hopes of finding Mina and James in 1880.
