There were a few illegitimate births but difficult to tell what surname was being used so I've excluded them from this list.

Interesting....there is a possibility on John and Margaret or John and Ann......who have some baptisms......found some new information on the immigration of this family......I am fairly sure they came to Pennsylvania in 1829.....I found an immigration of at least three of the brothers?......John, Edward, and Thomas.....John is listed at the time with a wife Hannah both are 34 years old children listed Sarah, Ann, and Dianna........Edward appears to be single and age 28.....Thomas is married and 30 with a wife Ann and a son Jonah and a duaghter Hannah.   Later I found Thomas on the 1850 US Census for Pennsylvania.....very close to where my Richard would have lived......Thomas and Ann are listed with a son Jonah or Jonas.....all born in wales.......

Another bit of information I came across is the naturalization record of John here in America. He claims to be from Ruabon.  I believe I am looking in the right area of North Wales, and this seems to be a rather large family....but they are surely an elusive one so fair!!!!!

One other bit of information all these men are listed together and are all miners.

It surely seems like this family is very elusive....Does anyone have records of people emigrating from this area in the 1820's. Maybe this would at least place this family of Platt's in this area since they were in America telling everyone they came from here!!!

Given that we're working on vary broad age estimates, etc. , it's very difficult. Have you got any of them on the US censuses that give a fairly good estimate of age?  Your info is a bit varied 

If they married before 1837, it would be in St Mary's, Ruabon. Non-conformist marriages were not valid then.

What I have is this as birth dates ......John Platt ca 1795
                                                           Thomas  ca 1799-1801
                                                           Edward ca  1801-1802
                                                           Richard  ca  1810-1811

John, Edward, and Thomas appear emigrated to America in 1829
John and Thomas appear on the census in Pennsylvania in 1830
John, Thomas, Edward, and Richard appear on the census in Pennsylvania in 1840

Unfortunately these census records only list heads of families and number of females or males living in the houses.

From the ship register.......John is married to Hannah, Edward is single, Thomas is married to Ann.....

John has the following children: Sarah 11....born ca 1818, Ann who may be 6 or 4 (bad picture of the list), and Dianna who is 1 born ca 1828.


With Thomas is his wife Ann born ca 1805.......Children are Jonah 3 born ca 1826, and Hannah 1 born ca 1828.

Richard is not listed on the ship register but from his tomstone it says he was 49 years old at death in 1860...so probably born 1810/1811. Addiitonally his stone says he was born in Denbighshire North Wales.


One last thing...Thomas is listed on the 1850 census in the area where all of these people lived in 1840....There his children and wife are listed....Ann, Jonas, 24. Edward. all of these were listed as born in Wales

Apart from non-conformity, they might have been from neighbouring parishes originally rather than
from Cefn/Ruabon.
