Marriage lookup request Winkle/Hegarty

Hi there,

Can anyone help me?

I'm trying to find a marriage for a William Winkle or Winkles to a Margaret Hegarty around 1850. I think the area would be around Kanturk, possibly Castlemagner.

Just saw your query,
Have you ever looked up irish civil registrations 1845-1958
go into that site and scroll down to General and go into Irish civil BMD
there are lots of Winkle surnames for Kanturk/Mallow area.

There isn't a marriage listing for William Winkle but there are 4 listings for William two in particular -

William Winkle b 1827 d Jan-Mar 1895
William Winkle b 1868 d Apr-Jun 1948
both Mallow area

Lots of Winkle surnames for Mallow area and Kanturk

I looked up Margaret Hegarty for marriages 4 pages there but none for 1850 some near.  It might help you though.

I found a possible marriage

William Winkles 1851 Castlemagner (RC) Co.Cork

Margaret Hegarty 1851 Castlemagner (RC) Co.Cork

Groom and Bride's are indexed separate so is no guarantee this is correct marriage but looks likely.

If you register on the site it costs 5euro to view the marriage record as unfortunately it is pay per view.

Hi Ger,

Thanks for the tip. I've parted with my 5 euros and had a look at the record. It certainly appears to be the correct one. Unfortunately neither of the parents christian names are recorded which is disappointing however when I come over next year I will at least be able to visit the church they married in and the surrounding area.

there's a a few possible children listed on the IFHF system to William & Margaret in the same parish :

  Baptism    James Winkles       1852    
  father's name : William

  Baptism    Michael Winkles    1853    
  father's name : William

  Baptism    William Wincles    1867    
  father's name : William

Hi Ger,

There is no address for William Winkles, Margeret's address is shown as Sallys Cross. The marriage date is 12/07/1851 in CASTLEMAGNER parish. the priest's name is Rev HOGAN. Also there are  the names of two witnesses, Maurice Walsh and Michael Connor.

The IFHF is the Irish Family History Foundation (www.irish-roots.ie) which is the organization that Mallow and other centres collaborated with to setup the central database and brsgenealogy.com website.
