Sue,

Unfortunately I cannot help you with your quest to find the name of the wife of Thomas Robinson.  I have copies of transcripts for Bridlington Priory parish registers which contain baptisms dating from 1782.  The entries which I think relate to Jane and Ann, only record the fathers name as Thomas Robinson, no mothers name is recorded.

However in the transcript I have of Bridlington Priory marriages I have found possible marriages for Christopher and also for Alice.  If you would like this information, please let me know and I will post the details.

Best Wishes

Thankyou gjl,
You are a God sent, and a blessing.
The info looks like a good match and I will certainly look into your research.
May God bless you and yours this Christmastide.
They say their is more joy in giving than receiving, but it`s certaimly bloody good to be on the receiving end of family history.

Sue,

You are most welcome.  I have taken a look at Bridlington Priory Baptisms and these could possibly be baptism records for Christopher's children.

9th October 1797
Baptism of William son of Christopher Robinson

20th September 1799
Baptism of Susanna daughter of Chr. Robinson and Eliz, his wife late Ringrose, Quay.

22nd July 1801
Baptism of John son of Christopher Robinson and Elizabeth, his wife, late Ringrose.

8th November 1802
Baptism of Richard son of Christopher Robinson and Elizabeth, his wife, late Ringrose.

Burials

26th November 1802
Burial of Richard son of Christopher Robinson, an infant.

28th November 1804
Burial of John son of Christopher Robinson , aged 3 years.

I will take a further look and see whether I can find any baptisms records which may relate to Alice's children.

I would also like to wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Best Wishes
CJL

Sue,

I have found one baptism for a daughter of William and Alice Thompson

28th May 1802

Baptism of Isabella daughter of Wm Thompson and Alice, his wife, late Robinson.

There are  several earlier baptisms which could be their children but unfortunately only the fathers name is recorded not the mothers name, so I cannot be certain that they are William and Alice's children.  I can post the details if you would like them.

Best Wishes

Dear cjl,
A special thanks, once again. You are a wealth of info.
In the IGI there are four children for Christoper & Elizabeth Robinson ; WILLIAM 1791, SUSANNAH 1799, JOHN 1801 & RICHARD 1802. Their must be others? So that all looks correct. Also in IGI daugther ISABELLA bpt 1802 for Willam as Alice Thompson. Any info you can send for my records will be great it may hit pay dirt later.
In the Priory records do they give any other details of occupation/trade or addresses/area etc.
Many years ago on an overseas trip we visited the George Robinson`s( bpt 26-2-1772, d 28-6-1852, Carnaby.) family home Carnaby Farm and the family graves. It was an extremely emotional experience. I felt like I had come home, found my roots in Yorkshire. George`s eldest daughter, Elizabeth Robinson ( bpt 13 Mar 1796, died 24-4-1857 Aust) eloped with the family coachman in 1816, James Stockdale ( bpt 4-12-1791, Kirkburn),  daddy wasn`t impressed. James & Elizabeth Stockdale and family immigrated to Australia in 1840.
On the headland at Robyn Hood Bay is a statue to Capt James Cook, with the old Priory opposite. James Cook discovered and maped the coast line of Australia in 1770. My ancestors could have rubbed shoulders with the Cook family. I wonder if Thomas Robinson ( father of George) in his wildest dreams ever thought his descendants would live in that recently discovered land, down under? I can image how they would have dressed and looked because of the statue of Capt James Cook.
