He seems to be with Catherine and Mary in 1911 but still can't see him in 91 or 01 - very odd. Working away somewhere maybe?

:)  Well  a big thank you everyone for your help.

I think I can say that Joseph Foden the father of my grandmother who I knew nothing about was born to Joseph and  Phoebe and that Phoebe died in 1886 aged 52 & I believe that Joseph was married before this as he had a son Walter and was  a widower on the  1861 census.

From here I think I need to find the death of Josephs first wife somewhere between approx 1854 and 1861 when Joseph is named as a Widower or find Walters birth certificate.

I obviously will need the marriage of Joseph and his second wife Phoebe.

I would not have this information if it was not for all your help .

So once again thanks

Gracelands

Hi Gracelands

I can't see an obvious first marriage for Joseph - can you?

This looks like Walter's birth though in case you haven't already found it

Walter Foden Jan qtr 1853 Birmingham Vol6d Pg154

Glad things are coming together :D

Hi Gracelands, saw these on the IGI, extracted entries.

WALTER HENRY FODEN b 19th Dec 1852, ch 31st Dec 1854 St. George, Birmingham. Father-Joseph, Mother-Mary Ann

If his parents were married this one might be worth considering.

Joseph Foden=Mary Bradley 14th May1848 Cathedral, Manchester.

I know it's not  near Birmingham but you never know.

Also, on FreeCen -  1841 Census Joseph 10yrs ( Barrel Filer)  with Father Joseph 40 (tool maker) and  Mother Ann 40, all born Warwickshire.

Looks as if Joseph's mother may have died and his father remarried as this is the picture in 1851

48 New Summer St
Joseph Foden Head M 54 Toolmaker Aston
Sarah do Wife 56 Birmingham
Joseph do Son U 23 Gun Barrel Filer Birmingham
Thomas Adams Brother to wife 53 U Birmingham
HO107/2058/933 Pg12

Doesn't look as if the 1848 marriage can be the one as Joseph is unmarried :(
