LDS family History centres are worldwide and listed on www.familysearch.org   You can get hold of the film of nearly all parish registers to search there.  they order them in from Salt lake City for you and you have a month or two to look at them there.   Otherwise try contacting the Borthwick Institute in York and ask them to look for you at which ever church the others are in.  The IGI has good coverage of Leeds too so they should be on there with luck.  I assume you have tried that?

Thanks Andrea.
No I haven't tryied IGI as the search asks you for a First name, which I don't have, or have they changed it?

If you only put a surname then you cannot cut down the search sensibly but it is worth a try.   You have some first names so put those in and if you get a hit then click on the batch number and just put a surname in the search box that comes up.  You then see all entries on the film for that name.  Robert Griggs brings up some very early ones which may bear fruit later.

Hi Yorkshire Rose,

I did check with Family Search but couldn't find anything - sorry for not posting that.
You can do a parent search on that site: enter the parents names and years - I had tried it 10 yrs +/- 1885 and only two names come up which are Sheffield area so I ignored them - I didn't check them in censuses in other families so who knows  ;)
Similarly, I tried for Parish records online in Hunslet/Castleford and Leeds which are places of birth for the living children but again no joy.
As Andrea said, you can order the films through a LDS centre- I have done this with good results in the past. You could try the parish perhaps where the couple were married as a starter.
For Robert - you would go to Suffolk where his origins were.

good luck
heywood

Thank you so much for looking Heywood. It's much appreciated.

Can you tell me how you managed to search the parish register for Hunslet/Castleford on-line?

Sorry for the misunderstanding - I meant I tried to get them online but no joy- they are not there  :(

It would be worth trying to get them through an LDS centre if you can.

best wishes
