Hello Bob,
Was your grandmother, Louisa known by another name-other than Louisa? do you know what her parent's names were?
We are at this point unable to identfy your grandmother and therefore unable to confirm that we are of the same line...
We do have a family tree on myheritage.com with all the Giles' (219 in all!) If it is that you are of this line we will publish the tree for you to gain access...
My grandfather would like to know if you are at all connected to the blacksmith in Buckland...

Hi Claire,

No idea who the blacksmith in Buckland was.
I do have relatives in Canada. Clifford Silas (Cliff) is married to Lilian Bloomfield. He is my 2C1R. I am in constant touch with his nephew Brian Hurdle.

By the way, any idea what PM's are? When I joined rootschat I was told we could communicate through them after 3 posts.

Best wishes,
Bob

Hi Bob,
So no Giles' in Canada? We know that some of the Giles' went to Canada (Francis-son of Joseph and possibly his brother Henry)
Joseph Giles-son of Giles Giles, had 3 brothers, Thomas, Edward and Henry and 2 sisters, Jane and Frances-Frances died aged 16... He also had 3 sons, Edward, Francis and Henry and a daughter, Helen.
Does any of this ring any bells?
Regards,
Claire.

Interesting! Do you have a tree? can you disclose any more information please? We have a tree with much information-including photos, dating back to the 1600s. It's published online and we'd be happy to share/merge it...We'd love to hear about what happened in Canada-who married who, how many children etc...There are more recent Giles' in Canada today, my grandfather's sister-daughter of Edward who is the brother of Frank...
Regards,
Claire
