This page should take you to the North Ferriby records on IGI - you'll need to scroll down the page to find North Ferriby

No sign of Thomas there either

When you search the IGI put in the name and an approximate date plus or minus 10 or whatever.  eg search for a marriage for John Watson and Mary Crathorne.   We know it was in 1800 becuase Laurina and I have already found it.   When you get it up on the screen click on the batch number at the bottom and just put a surname in the search box.  That will show all mentions of that name on that film.  The marriage batch numbers satrt with M.   If you change that M to a C you often (not always) get the Christenings.  That is what I did to find their four children as quoted by Laurina.   If Thomas is not showing up on that or via the Hugh Wallis site then the chances are that he was baptised elsewhere in a parish not on the IGI.
The names of the children are tying in nicely with Mary's father being Alexander and George's middle name is almost bound to be a surname further back so very helpful.
If you are anywhere near an LDS family history sentre (they are worldwide) then you could order the film of North Ferriby and search it there at your leisure.  There might be many helpful hints in the actual register.  Occupations, addresses, burials etc.

Went to the IG site. After going through about 4,000 records could not find him with that date.

There is something wrong with your searching technique here!   Are you using the Advanced Search option and going straight to the IGI?    Once there you must cut it down to approximate dates or you will have thousand of records to go through which is very disheartening.  Using the Hugh Wallis site takes you straight to the parish you want but I never do that as I prefer to see if there is a possible entry in a nearby parish.   Many a babe was baptised when they were visiting mum or working elsewhere temporarily and the vicar came round and told them to do it.
Have you any idea of occupation for this family?

Thanks for that tip Andrea, I didn't know you could do that.

Thank you all for what you have done.

I have been searching the North Ferriby, Yorkshire, England records and located all the children of John and Mary. There was also a Henry which I added but no Thomas. I am not sure where John was born but could be Thomas was born on a visit there?

Who knows.

I never knew I could search the IG the way you showed.

It also could be that John and Mary were not, in fact, his parents.

Will have to check more with the family members to see what they have for sure.

Well, I just learned that the dates and names for Thomas Watson were taken from an Ancestry search.

No one knows for sure his actual birthdate other than 1812. England. The parents names were also from Ancestry.

Nothing I have found in the US gives me more information.

Still Looking.

Hi Lilbees,

We seem to have hit a stumbling block with Thomas Watson.

I think you'd be better off trying to find another link to Thomas Watson. I assume Thomas married and had children. Could you tell us more about him.

When did he marry?  Who did he marry?  Names and d.o.b. for his children.

Possibly someone could then find him and his family in the census and get a few more clues from there.

It would be good to solve this mystery.
