sorry, I thought of one final question.  The 1851 census doesn't give a place of birth for Ann Greaves, does the 1841 census for Bakewell give a place of birth for her?  regards.  Kirwan

Hi

The 1841 does not show birthplaces - just a Y or N against the entry to indicate whether they were born in the county in which they were living at the time of the census

Thank you, I presume there was a Y for Anne.

Just found this site.  Very interested in all the chat about my great-great-great-grandmother Ann Greaves.  Been researching the whole family for many years.  Get in touch if you need more about her.

Thanks for this.  I bought Paul Hudson's book - ‘Ann Summers Creator of the World Famous Bakewell Pudding' which contains very useful information on Ann Greaves.  He too is Ann Greaves' great great great grandson.  Unless you and he are the same.  The book helped a lot in my research and corrected a number of previous inaccuracies regarding Ann Greaves, though I still have a number of questions which unfortunately the book didn't cover.
regards
Kirwan

Are you too a relative of Ann Greaves?  Otherwise what is your interest in the grand old lady?
