Also - the US civil war records for soldiers lists William, James and George Ainslie as US Confederate soldiers. Looks like he fought with his brothers.

Mind you - to complicate my life Scottish Census records also show William living in Scotland in 1871 which conflicts with the us soldier theories dates:(

Hi Carol,
My advice is to forget about Ancestry links and trees. Only go with the proof i.e. certificates that you have got. Unfortunately, I cannot find a death of George Ainslie but I still think the america connection has not been proved.
