Deaths are available on fiche to 1964 at Queensland Archives.  I suggest you google to find other locations.  Perhaps a cemetery search if you know where they lived.

Cheers

Hi, I am not sure where she lived.

I am looking for Violet Ruby May Mercer (maiden name Smale). She used Ruby or Violet as her first name.

Her parents were Isaac and Margaret Smale

She may have remarried possibly. She arrived in Australia 1908-1910.

Any help gladly appreciated.

Many thanks

There is a Ruby May Mercer showing on the electoral rolls living in Victoria no death  till 1984 showing though

Do you have her husband names?

Her husband was Russell William Mercer but that was in NZ. He stayed here and she went to Australia. Her parents came from Victoria around 1881, she was born 1884 in Taranaki. We have a photo of her taken with a Redcliffe Town Council, Queensland  sign in the background which means it was taken after 1921.

Would you mind posting the info you have found for Ruby May Mercer on the victorian electoral roll please

Just to clarify you have no death till 1984 - is this in Victoria or Queensland.

Many thanks

No  death in Victoria  to 1984

It would appear  that  the Ruby  May Mercer in Victoria is not yours.

SueChiris,

I'll take a trip to the archives if I can, some time this week.

But just because you have a photo of her with the sign doesn't necessarily mean she was living in Qld. Redcliffe is a 'coastal town' and a place where people went for holidays.

Maybe she was on her hols ....  ;D

Jenn's Victoria electoral roll find sounds promising especially with the famiy connection. She would be over 100 if she died after 1984 - not impossible. It's an unusual name - so at the very least I wonder if the Ruby that Jenn found in Victoria is some kind of relation.  :-\

Thank you very much for offering to look up the Queensland archives. You are quite right in that she may have been on holiday in Redcliffe. In the photo she is standing with two aboriginal boys. Jenn didn't think the Ruby May Mercer in Victoria was the right one. I think she died after 1934 as on her mother's death cert if lists the ages of her 5 daughters and one of these ages is spot on for Ruby/Violet, so chances are it is after 1934.  But it is also possible she may have remarried. I am wondering if the two aboriginal boys are hers. They are very well dressed and standing right beside her. She could have had children up to around 1930 when she would have been 45 or so.

Thanks again.
