I would like to let anyone researching
Joseph P E nnington
                          ( mother Mary Pennington)
who married Harriet Chiswell 1814 Huddersfied
know
There has been a lot of miss information put on the net in several different places by some people who have mixed 2 or 3 different families together
Please be very carefull when you do your researching as miss information continues down the line and makes it a lot harder to find the correct line.
The Joseph P E nnington and the Joseph P I nnington are two different people, same as Mary (two different people)
Thank you
jan

To All .

Jan is correct on this issue

Joseph Pennington Born?-Bapt 1790 IGI Leigh Parish to Mother Mary Pennington Single Woman abode Atherton (Chowbent)

Ormskirk quarter session put a Bastardry order on Peter Cartteral of Manchester occupation Joiner to support the Joseph's upbringing. Payed through the Overseers of Atherton to Mary Pennington. date in court was May 1790 and Peter catteral was not in court.

There is as pointed out by Jancol a lot of missing evidence to say for certain who this Joseph decentants are! but there is a lot of very strong evidence to concider this was the Joseph in Huddersfield marriage 1814.age 24 by bond alligation of the parish of Atherton. Bishops Transcript, Atheron parish also the Huddersfield church register is Atherton for  1814 residence Joseph parish.

There is a need to find that missing info for absolute proof.

Joseph Pennington born Liverpool 1793 cannot yet be disproved as  1814 marriage as the Huddersfield Joseph died 1840 age 47.
but very un likley.

................................................................................
Mary Pennington of Atherton and  Mary Bouton wife of the Late Benjamin Pinnington (death 1801) -b 1763 in Chorley wife of Benjamin Married 1783 Chorley residence Bolton le moors are two serperate Mary Penington's Both refered as Pinnington and Penninton on  documents.

Mary Penington Bastardy support was Mary Pinnington.

Last the theory of Sibling being handed down the family first name ie;- Benjamin is very misleading and as Jancol rightly point out. Benjamin was in the Huddersfied Joseph descentant family name that lead researches to assume Joseph bap 1789 of Bolton le moors was the Huddersfield Joseph. But his DEATH 1819 in BOLTON LE MOORS PUT THAT THEORY AS USELESS.

What Info there is! is as follow:-

Joseph bapt 13th of March 1790 Pennington IGI mother Mary.

Joseph Bapt 13th March 1790 Abode Atherton of Mary Pennigton Single woman. as parish register in Leigh.

Bastardry order on Peter Catteral of Manchester  May 1790 for maintence of Joseph again Atherton. nr Leigh

Marrriage 1814. by licence to Harriet Cheswell born Manchester.
By alligation Bonds man William Hampson and Best man John Hampson again atherton

There is a John Hampson living in Atherton in the overseers payment records 1807 and 1831 taken at random years  About same age as Joseph years covered.

There is in the overseers records 1830/31 Letters to the overseer from Joseph putting in claim for Relief money from his birth Parish as stated in the poor law money had to be claimed from the Birth parish ATHERTON   :D unless there were Removel or settlement Records (There are none for Joseph Pennington to Huddersfield before 1831)

This Alone is the proof.

There are or are not missing records. by looking at these records at Leigh archives records office of the poor law overseers I can say every thing that should be recorded was and is still there.

The most important was Joseph b 1790 in Atherton seems to be missing at adult age. but he was in Huddersfield to 1931 releif money CLAIM.

The fact Bolton le moors is out of the running and Liverpool Joe does not have anything to do with Atherton. Then there's only Leigh Joe Pennington 1790 bap left.

Dobby. now for Time cap......................

more info will be put if found

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth
