Oddly the only marriage I can find for Stephen E Lawrence to Jane Wade is in 1925! Did he wait all that time to marry her?

Stephen E Lawrence
3Q 1925  District: Medway (1837-1941)  Kent 2a  2108
Spouse's Surname: Jane Wade

I agree that the marriage is rather late - but I thought it worth bringing up as both the names matched! Perhaps he just decided to make her an honest woman  ... who knows!

Yes, as shown by Laurina earlier  :)

Are you sure Emily was the mother of these children? I've found Minnie Annie and Edith with their father in 1891 - 15 Medway Road, Gillingham

Looks that way to me - you could always verify it by sending for the birth certs.

Hello, I spotted this thread which ties up a branch of my Mattocks (Gillingham, Kent) Family Tree.
The Mattocks family lived across the road, 20 Medway Road in the 81, 91 & 01 Census, Emma Mattocks married the boy across the street at No. 15, Stephen E. Lawrence, had two Children Edith Jane and Minnie Annie before her death in 1879.
Emma Mattocks was one of 11 Children, her death was the fifth of William Joseph Mattocks and Jane Weston (Wilkins) children to die. I have a photograph of William Mattocks on his 80th bithday with two of his sons and 2 grandsons (one, my G.Grandfather).

Stephen E. Lawrence re-married and had 3 boys to add to his two step children and original two girls.
Minnie Annie married William John Simmonds, had 6 children (1 died) and lived at 1 Gibbs Cottages, Medway Road, Gillingham.

Does anyone have any information on Edith Jane Lawrence ???
Thank you
Andy Harvey
