Issac YOUNG 1810
« on: Thursday 18 June 09 11:33 BST (UK) »
Hi

I have been asked by a friend if I can find any details on her  3X GGrandfather Isaac Young. ???

Therefore I seek any info in regards his parents or brother sisters on Issac Young born Jun 18 1810 somewhere in Somerset.

In 1835 he married a Jane Perry in ST Pauls Bristol, (this from parish records)

They must have emigrated to Austrailia as he died in Warooka in S Austrailia in 14 Oct 1876.

Any info gratefully recieved :-*

Hi Peter,

The BISA has an entry for Isaac.

YOUNG Isaac born 18 June 1810 Priston Somerset England. Died 14 Oct 1876 arrived 1850 aboard the CEYLON residence Adelaide
married Jane nee PERRY born 30 July 1813 died 6 Jun 1907 Barmedman Nsw 2 children, William 1842 Emily HOWARD 1850-1932

The passenger list from the Ceylon agrees with this

http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/fh/passengerlists/1850Ceylon%20RegisterAugust6.htm

As the BISA contains submitted material in conjuction with other sources  it is not always 100% accurate but a good resource and well worth following up on anything listed.

The family are in Gloucs in 1841

YOUNG Abraham 65 N (No not born in County) Currier
YOUNG Abraham 30 N Currier
YOUNG Isaac 30 N Currier
YOUNG Jane 30 N
YOUNG Elizabeth 6 Y
YOUNG Ann 5 Y
YOUNG Ellen 2 Y

Abraham is aged 73 in 1851 a pauper listed as Lodger in the home of James and Eliza Gunter (Eliza 34 b Mangotsfield Gloucs) and family. His place of birth is listed as Saltford Somerset. The younger Abraham in now aged 38 married - a currier born Bath. In 1861 Abraham is still with the Gunters. He is now listed as father in Law. Eliza Gunter is 45 and lists a birth in Downend Gloucs. Young Abraham is also still in the parish aged 49 born Somerset.

The IGI lists several baptisms (All Submitted and a wrong dob and marriage for Isaac) if it is the same people to Abraham Young and Elizabeth Carter in Camerton including the three we have found in the census entries.

Cheers Kris  :)

Just looking again - The Isaac and Anna from the IGI do exist and he names a son Aaron (another of the biblical names of the children listed to Abraham and Elizabeth Carter, possibly a twin) so this family do exist. The submitted entries do list Eliza as both Young and Gunter so it looks like the Isaac you are after was not the son of Abraham from the census but possibly some other relation. Not very helpful I am afraid.  :'(

Only one child born in SA

YOUNG Emily 19 Nov 1850 Coromandel Valley Dist Ade 3 137 Parents Isaac Young and Jane Perry

YOUNG Isac died 14 Oct 1876 Warooka Dist Dal symbol F 76 358. relative William Young - possible relative. (That is the symbol F possible relative as has same surname. Presume this was the son.)

Unfortunately SA certificates from this era will provide little more than this and no parent information  :'(

Janes death in NSW is listed

YOUNG Jane 4020/1907 Baredman NSW parents John and Ann

Cheers Kris  :)

Helllo Peter
I apologise for not getting your name right the first time.  Isaac Young born 18.6.1810 is my my Great Great Grandfather and this is the first time I have never found anyone who is related to him apart from my immediate family, not in all the years I've been researching.  One of my cousins tried to locate his parents and other info and spent quite a lot of money. I believe we are related to the large family of Youngs in Somerset.
Please contact me as soon as possible. Jane and Isaac had 8 children, some died early. Then they moved over to South Australia with some of their children including my grandfather John, Isaac jnr and William. I am in the middle of trying to locate Isaac's parents and also Jane's but I do have a fair amount of information here of their descendants, some I still must put together. Maybe you or your friend would like to contact me on (*) as I check that almost every day.  You can also contact me on (*) but I don't check that as often.  We have a YOUNG family get together coming up in October 2009 and it would be great to connect. Best regards, Rhonda

Hi Roda I am also a Young! and I am tracing the Young family as well all born Somerset but moved up to Durham when mining ran out in Somerset I have got as far back as John Young born 1786 married an Elizabeth.  All the Youngs on my side where born in Pitcombe and a place called Hadspen Honeywick and Nunney as well as a place called Trudox Hill.   I did a visit there in the Summer it certainly is a very beautiful place.   I have my full family tree on Genes Reunited. I wonder what you know about the Young clan generally as you said they were a large family
