« on: Wednesday 17 June 09 15:32 BST (UK) »
just received my fathers birth certificate and find he was born in Kilmallock workhouse in August 1920.  but I believe the workhouse was requisitioned by the British army in the same year Anyone have any information on the workhouse or it's records?  my 'googling has not been very successful.

Hi

My father was born in Killmallock workhouse February 1920...do you have any idea if there are any records that show what happened to these people?

In LIMERICK RESOURCES (top of Limerick board) there's a post for Schools, Workhouses and Institutions with a link to Workhouses (including Kilmallock)-
http://users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouse/
Left side of page click 'workhouse locations', then 'Irish Poor Law Unions', then 'Co.Limerick' and finally 'Kilmallock.'
The site gives the history of the workhouse, has maps and photographs and a link to Archives information.
