Well Chad I've been thinking again - mustn't make too much of a habit of it.    Going back to Samuel I wondered if there was a marriage around 1820.  Indeed there is, in fact two.  One is of Samuel Slaughter to Ann Peart in Aylsham 1811 and one to Ann pitcher in Ingworth 1824.  Both Aylsham and Ingworth are near to Alby and indeed Colby which was yet another thought (said with a broad accent they'd have difficulty picking up the C).  I looked at the 1841 census for Ingworth and found the followiing which of course may, or may not, be helpful.
Census 1841 HO107/762/5/4/4 Ingworth
Samuel Slaughter 65 Ag lab
Williby 60.
There is also another family of Slaughters next door with children of Frances age.

Alby is a pain on the 1841 as it is quite indistinct in places, however,
Census 1841 HO107/761/4/3 Alby
John Slaughter 23 Ag lab

Census 1841 HO107/761/6/7 Alby
John Slaughter 55 Ag lab
Ann 50
Catherine 17
Robert 13
James 11
next door
John 30 Ag lab
Betsy 25

At least this proves that there were Slaughters of the right ages and names in the Alby/Colby district!

Sorry if it adds confusion.

Thanks to all of you for your help.  I think that Brian may have hit the nail on the head.  Frances (Slaughter) Heap must have been born in Alby.

I checked the IGI on familysearch.org for possible matches for the family listed in the 1841 census above.  As one might have expected Samuel Slaughter/Slater and Willoughby Clarke had two sons named Samuel (presumably the first died young), who were christened in Ingworth, Norfolk:  the first, Samuel Clark Slaughter, on 7 June 1799; and the second, Samuel Slaughter, on 5 October 1801.  This could well be Frances (Slaughter) Heap's father, although he would have been a bit on the young side.  In fact, I'd be more inclined to say that Frances's parents were likely Samuel Slaughter and Ann Peart, who married 20 April 1811, Aylsham.

However, it is interesting that the John and Ann Slaughter listed above in the 1841 census (who are apparently the son and daughter of Samuel and Willoughby (Clarke) Slaughter) also apparently had a daughter named Frances, who was born 8 June 1820 and christened 11 June 1820 in Alby (about the same time the Frances (Slaughter) Heap was probably born).

So, although the parentage of Frances (Slaughter) Heap appears to be a bit of a mystery, I think it's likely that she was born in Alby.

Thanks again for all your help!
