Can I just advise - the Andrew Kavanagh mentioned in this thread married
Alice Green 1866 Arklow and moved to England (Widnes) in 1868.
He died in Jan 1891 Widnes and is buried there.  Original docs have been
crosschecked.

My Gt Gt grandmother was a Bridget Kavanagh born around 1824 in the Arklow area perhaps Rathdrum, Wicklow, I have her marriage lines from Irish Roots, but it doesn' show who her parents were. She married a John Martin, and they had 12 children, I have all of their baptism cert's from Irish Roots (IHF) they also moved to Widnes around 1870's. I am wondering if there is a connection here to Andrew Kavanagh?  I know they were related to the Doyle family, most of the children settled around Victoria Street, Widnes. Any information would help, thanks Pauline

Hi - My Andrew Kavanagh married Alice Green in Arklow Wicklow in 1866 - parish records online.   His father is named as James.   Their first child Margaret was born in Ballyfad Wexford in 1867.  Margaret's birth cert shows that a Catherine Kavanagh was present at the birth - i am not sure if this was andrew's sister ?   Andrew was born in 1841 BUT I do not know anymore - cannot be even sure if he was born in Wicklow or Wexford.  They moved to Widnes during 1868 and had 7 more children.  Andrew died in Widnes in 1891.  The family were living in Catherine St on 1891 census and then moved to Accrington later.    I would love to know more about the Kavanaghs.

My gt gt grandmother Bridget Kavanagh was born about 1825 in Ireland, so it's doubtful she could be Andrew's sister as he was born much later, could be an aunt though, they seem to have moved to Widnes around the same time. Bridget Kavanagh married John Martin on 15/11/1841 at Wicklow, she died on 30/12/1878 at 9 Walmsley Street, the names of the witnesses on their children's baptisms included a Patrick, Michael, James and Mary Kavanagh, there were different spelling variations ,i.e. Cavanagh. I found who I think is your Andrew and Alice on the 1881 census, under the name Cavanagh at 63 Church Street. Margaret 13yrs born in Ireland, the other children all born in Widnes, Catherine 12yrs, Alice 10, James 7, Thomas 4, Annie, and Patrick 1 wk.

There were also other Cavanagh's in Widnes, a John living at 74 Oxford Street Widnes in 1871 and a Charles living at 8 Midwood Street, Widnes in 1891, thanks for your help with this, sometimes we can get a little clue :) Pauline

Hi

The book Irish Family History is all about families who lived in the Coolgreany Demesne and includes some references to the Coolgreany Evictions.

I have found a Judith Green/e who married a John Kavanagh. They had a John Kavanagh.  Judith was dau of Simon Green/e of Knockgreany.  I was wondering if their son John was the one who was shot during the Coolgreany Evictions of 1887.  I guess they were all linked in one way or another.  It may well be another generation.
