I was a Gotobed before I married..A few of our family actually had the name changed by deed poll as it was so disliked, I come from March in Cambridgeshire so not far away...looking back I think it a bit of a shame as it is an unusual name, at the time I was overjoyed as it lead to a lot of bullying etc at school.
I am sorry to hear that but I and my children had the same problem at school, which is why they now go under the former part of the double barrelled surname, rather than the latter.
Children will however always find something that they can pick on you for and what was a hindrance in my youth has turned out to be a good (or bad) thing in my mid years (I am now 42, 43 in Feb!)
It gets you remembered, and you rarely have to tell people your name more than once.
