thanks Jay ........ saw Windsor Terrace on the Wear Valley website .... but couldn't figure it out .......... thought there must be two cemeteries ..... just looked at an OS map ........it's all clear now.

There's a back entrance at the other end of the cemetery on High jobs Hill ... it's quite a big entrance with gates ...... trust me to go in by the back door!!!

thanks both
Jean .....the mists starting to clear.

Oh Adam .... that's great.....you're doing my job for me and saving me no end of leg work...... It makes life easier (for me ..not you) when I know where to look.

I did look in the older part of Windsor Terr... but only for a few minutes ..... I was shattered and thought I'd go back later and look round properly.

It is great if you say there's a stone for Laidler in there ..... but strange as he died in Herne Bay, Kent ...... however ...Laidler is mentioned on the stone at St Thomas's, Stanley Crook that you gave me ... as the father of Sidney Milburn..... maybe that is what you are thinking of with it being such a strange name. ... giving me Sydney's stone in 1930 has helped me a lot .. as I now know that the family did not go down to Kent until after 1930.

It's a wonder you're not 'bog eyed' doing all these inscriptions.

Thankyou
Jean

Hello Jean. The gravestone should be easy to find.
It is a large one and the inscription reads:-

In loving memory of Ann the beloved wife of Laidler Milburn of Crook who died November/30/1891 aged 30 years.

Adam.

Hello Keren. Here are the inscriptions for Kilburn:-

Ann, wife of William Byeres Kilburn, surgeon of West Auckland who died June/25/1860 aged 30 years.

This next stone is very weathered . Here is what can be read.
John  urn(kilburn?) of West Auckland, surgeon who died Ju??/1/1852.
And at the bottom of the stone is lSA 21/1837.

Just noticed your post above Adam .... thankyou so much.

Mary Ann May was Laidlers first wife of three ...... very careless with his wives !!!

So she was buried as 'Ann' ..... not 'Mary Ann' .. although she's on all the census as Mary Ann ... if it wasn't for the fact that he had the name 'Laidler' ... I would never have found these people ........ and with your help of course.

Thanks again

Jean
