Clerkenwell House of Correction

Is there a way of finding details of inmates circa 1848? Or, failing this, does anyone know how I can trace court records for an ancestor who was sent there? She gave birth whilst in the prison.

Hi. There is a website which I found my ancestor on. It is www.oldbaileyonline.org. You could give this a try.
Hodgson, Sorlie, Millett, Knight, Brown, Smith, Callagan, Rudd, Severn, Braxton, O’Dell, Purcell, Gorman, Finn, Larkings, Larkins, Coleman, Bernhard

Dear Lisa,
Many thanks for your help. I found my ancestor within seconds. Sent to prison for six months for obtaining 30 shillings by false pretences. The next task is to try and find her in 1851- no trace so far.
Best wishes,
 Judy
