could someone please date the photo of the young man who may be my grandfather.  The other photo maybe a photo of him when he was older.

The 1st. is in the style of 1920's although I'm not familiar with the heavily stylised cuff
of the young man's jacket.The 2nd. looks earlier although it's too small and you don't show all of it,possibly just prior to WW1.
You really need to change the heading to reflect what you want,more people will look that way.

I wouldn't say they were the same man,eyebrows,mouth and shape of their faces are different....

I think that they are different and I can't see enough facial similarities to suggest they are closely related.
