Hi, I am trying to find birth details, family etc for my G Grandfather Thomas PAICE.
What I Know so far:
Thomas Emigrated to Australia in 1852. Ship - Cossipore, Passenger list dated 14/6/1852, listed as gentleman, age 28(1824) bound for Port Phillip (also stopped at Portland Bay, Vic). Aust Vic unassisted passengers listed arrival Oct 1852.
Marriage Certificate- 1858 Crowlands, Vic, Aust. married to Mary Ann Harvey. Gives father as William Paice, (Farmer) and mother as Mary surname unknown. Thomas age 32 (1826)
Son's birth certificate - shows Thomas (father) age 42 (1826) b. Basingstoke.
Death Notice - Thomas Paice d. 1890, Stawell, Vic, Aust. Age 66 (1824) Landed Portland, Vic. Native of Basingstoke.
1841 UK Census - Possible links - HO/385/2/Pg20 London St Basingstoke - Thomas Paice age 15, b. Basingstoke, M/Y, at home/business of William Houghton, Grocer. - Also HO107/385/3/Pg7&8 Winchester st, Basingstoke - possible parents and siblings William age 45 cabinetmaker and Mary age 45 four children Ellen age 14, Henrietta Age 11, George age 9 & William age 6. (Fathers occupation differs from that on Thomas's marriage certificate)
I have ended up at a dead end, need help please.

His age in 1841 is likely to have been 'rounded down' to nearest 5.

William PAICE married Mary HEADING 22 FEB 1816 Basingstoke.

Remember census could be under Pace also/still looking

Having said that have found a William PAICE, wife Sarah in Basingstoke. Occp DAIRYMAN

Maybe Mary died and he remarried?

There is a death for a Mary Paice ,Basingstoke June 1846 and a marriage of a William on Freebmd Sept. 1846, on same page Sarah CARTER.

I think Full mentions the only contenders in his first posting.  The burials will be significant here as I can't see any other likely candidates in 1841.  The couple with the young William aged 5 in 1841 appear to be the William & Mary that married in 1816.

I'm at a disadvantage as I don't have access to the 1851 Census.

So William has passed away.
Definitely right family as 1841Census/Marriage of Mary Heading and William Paice.
