carnwath graveyard

Hi All,

I was wondering if those with access to the Carnwath MIs/Burial Registers could have a look for Somervilles for me.  I would be interested in any Somerville entries but I am especially looking for a William Somerville who most likely died pre-1841.  There are a few death entries on SP that could match him (particularly one for 1840) but it would be good to know if there is any trace of him being buried there.  I would also be interested to know if his wife Margaret Bryce was buried there as she died in Carnwath on 9th May 1860.

Long shot but, are there any burial records here for:

James HOGG born Nov.20, 1850  died 1913 in Cambuslang
Janet HOGG (nee Lena/Lind) born Aug 15, 1855 died Mar 5, 1952 in Carnwath

I  see you have Rankines in your family tree.  I am descended from John Rankine of Inchcross - any connection?

Hi all,

Wonder if anyone has come across the name Gebbie in any Carnwath burial/grave records. My lot were there from at least 1836 when James Gebbie and Janet Thomson married there and some of their children were still there in the 1890s.

look up please Carnwath Graveyard for, Catherine Baillie who married William Swanston Lanark in 1864,
Catherine died age 50 in 1896.

Hi My relative Agnes Burns died in 1792 and is buried in Carnwath along with a Swanston Agnes was married to a Lind. Does she mean anything to you

James Swanston married Helen Lind 1838 in Carnwath, their son William Lind Swanston b 1839 Carnwath d 1896 Carnwath married my "rellie" Catherine Baillie on the 27 May 1864 in Lanark, hope this helps you.

Thank You very much for that info. I have the gravestone photo all the Linds are related to me on my dads side of the family. That means that Agnes Burns was first to die as she died in 1792.
