Hello ronnie7366,
I believe that the
Metropolitan Police Historical Collection
have some documents for officers in the 20th Century. So my suggestion would be to give them a try. Details are at the bottom of the linked page. If you can find out when he left you may be able to look for a pension record at the The National Archives - which would give you more information. There could also be more information in the police orders at the National Archives - but you would need to know what and when to look for.
Hope that helps, BarnabyP

Hi
This is the website of the Friends of the Metropolitan Police Historical Collection
http://www.fomphc.org.uk/viewpage.php?page_id=1
'The Friends are a group of people sharing an historical interest in London's police and criminal justice heritage. We directly support the activities of the Metropolitan Police Historical Collection* (MPHC).
The Friends assist MPHC staff in cataloguing and conserving the collection.'
The website has an online form to
'Make a police historical records enquiry about your family member?'
from the Metropolitan Police Hisotrical Collection

Hello Jaz,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have had a look through the documents that I have photographed. I have found a James Hales West who left the Metropolitan Police Force in 1919 with warrant no. 68302. You can find his leaving on
MEPO 4/346 Page 27
. He is on attestation
MEPO 4/354 page 37
. His joining is also recorded in
MEPO 4/335
. I feel quite sure that he would also have received a pension, which can be viewed at The National Archives.
Hope that helps, BarnabyP
