Afternoon Gadget,

Thanks for all this info, I am just trying to digest it and get my head round it.

I can now confirm that William and Eliza are my Gt Grand Parents, my friend who is helping me had ordered me a birth certificate for Albert Henry and it arrived this morning. They lived in Whychough Lane Malpas.

So at least I am going down the right line!

I am now  recording and collating all the info  I have, so all the research you are doing is helping enormously and I thank you for that, very much.

You must be an expert!

Curttom.

Not an expert - just started when I was 8 (with a 40 year break) and I'm long in the tooth (  :-X  )

I'll see if I can find more on Eliza and William.  I see you've got some Welsh ancestors as well - I do have some paper sources for the border counties  :D

PS - Whychough Lane was where I found them on the 1891  :D

Wow, 8 years old, how did that happen?

Yes I was just thinking about the Welsh connection, not sure my Dad would have been impressed, I think there was a bit of border rivalry, he used to moan about them. I could have teased him about it if he had still been here!!

Thanks again for your time, much appreciated.

Curttom.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm Welsh/Scottish/English and I've found a fair bit for you so I'm sure he'd change his mind!

We inheited my Mother's parents family bible and I was fascinated to find that they were Scots. I then found my great great grandparents and great grandmother's gravestone and I spent my early years looking at tombstones and pestering the family with questions about them. My father was Welsh/Shropshire and he didn't know much about them apart from the Shropshire lines coming from the Shropshire border villages of St Martins and Selattyn and Whittington and Ellesmere and also Staffordshire. The Welsh lines are as I mentioned yesteday.

My friend who is helping me has ancestors in Ellesmere too. Surnames that I can recall are France and Edwards.

My Mothers side are predominently from Cambs and Beds mostly Huntingdon area, they are much easier to find as we have living relatives to help us.

My Dad met her while he was working in the area, then they moved back to Tilston to live with his parents, then eventually moved back to Cambs.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for getting in touch. I continue to research the Stevenson's but have been a bit inactive of late. I would be very grateful for any information you have and I am curious as to your connections, if any, to the family.
Look forward to hearing from you.

C.

Hi Curttom

Your Great grandfather Henry was brother to my partners great grandmother Sarah Ann.

The Rannder you were looking for on the 1871? census I believe may be Ravensmoor if you close one eye and squint at it thats what it could be. It would make sense if it was, on one census his birthplace is Acton which is right next to Ravensmoor. I've just picked up some more possible information further back so i'll post it when I have it all together and done one or two checks on it

Cheers Pete

That's fantastic news Pete, it is so nice to hear of family connections and maybe we can exchange family knowledge, perhaps we could discuss via email rather than on here but I am not sure if we can post personal details here.
Which child of Sarah's was your partner born to? Do you live in Cheshire? My cousin knows some of the Barclay family I believe.
Will be great to here from you again and thanks for getting in touch.

Chris.
