December quarter, 1885, Whitchurch South, vol 6a Page 712

Hi Curttom,

Nothing to add at the moment, apart from to say the registration district is Whitchurch, Salop not Whitchurch South to distinquish it from Whitchurch, Hants.

If you don't want to risk buying the birth cert, their marriage is:

Sept quarter, 1907, Whitchurch S , Vol 6a  page 1591

Albert Henry Stevenson and Margaret Nevitt are on the same page

This will give his father's name which would be a step forward  :)

Thanks for that Gadget,

How do I find his father's name without buying the certificate though?

I don't think you can unless we can find him on the 1891 when he would have been quite young  or someone might find a baptism record for you :-\

It might be worth doing a global search on Stevenson/Stephenson in Whitchurch on the 1891 and see what comes up. Sometimes I've gone through districts page by page to find ancestors. It's time consuming but you often find someone who has been wrongly indexed.

In the old days (before about 5 years ago) , that's how we had to search  :)

There's a possible on the 1891 in Malpas - a Henry Stevenson, aged 4.

RG12/2126 F 18 P 29.

Father is a William, ag lab. other Eliza. All are b. Malpas but it's in the Whitchurch RD.

Do you have access to this or shall I put the details up?

I have just looked in the 1911 census and found them.

It says he was born Oldcastle,Malpas and they are living there too, with Alfred who was my Dad's brother, so we are getting somewhere at last. My Dad was born 1914 so he obviously wouldn't be there. There was an older sister, Alice but she died when she was 2 or 3, my Dad told me she choked on a banana!

This is so compelling!

I can see how you are all hooked!

Curttom.

Just read your new post, I would be grateful if you could put it up please as I have only credits for 1911 census at moment.

It really seems to be the only one that fits. I've now tried 3 different sites!

Here are the details:

Eliza, 32, b. Ellesmere

Others all b. Malpas
