The only birth reg that is coming up is the one that I gave this morning.

I think that the Henry A is yours because of the birthplace and age and i think that the Henry on the 1891 with parents William and Eliza  is a very strong possible for him, given that he seems to have been called Henry  :)

You guys are fantastic, thanks so much.

It all seems very plausable and I do think my grandfather was known as Henry.

I will check with my cousin in Chester tomorrow as she is the only relative I know that is still living.

We moved to this area when I was 18mths so I have no contact with any other relatives apart from my Dad's brother's daughter who remembers a bit more than I do.

Thanks again both of you.

Curttom.

 :)

A bit more on William Stevenson

1871:
Stockton Lane, Malpas Suburbs
RG10/2798 Folio 26 Page 41

Thomas Manford, widr,  72, labourer, b. Malpas
John  Stevenson, son in law, 46, labourer, b. Cheshire,  Rannder? (?Radnor) - need someone with local knowledge on this one!
Elizabeth Stevenson,  son in law's wife, 43, b. Flint, Threapwood
William Stevenson,grandson, 13, b. Malpas
Sarah Stevenson, granddau, 3, b. Malpas

John Stevenson and Elizabeth Manfred(?) are on the same page in the marriage index:

June q, 1857, Whitchurch, vol 6a page 1302

It looks like Manford on the 1871 and 1861 census images. Thomas Manford  is with his wife Martha in Malpas on the 1861 ( RG9/1891 F 24 P 41)

Also in 1861:

Threapwood
RG9/4279 F 109 Page 7

Stevenson

John, 34, ag labourer, b. Cheshire, Bickley
Elizabeth, 33, b. Cheshire,  Threapwood
William, son, 3, b. Malpas
Joseph Manford,step son,  7, b. Malpas
Thomas Duce, boarder, 34, ag labourer, b. Shropshire, Newport
