1906 or 1911 census look up for the Weldman family
« on: Thursday 11 June 09 17:37 BST (UK) »
I wonder if any one can help me locating my family on the 1906 or 1911 census.

Sarah Waldman left the UK in 1895 to Nova Scotia with her family.
On the 1901 census they are living in Halifax Nova Scotia as the Weldman family.
After 1901 i canīt find them.

Their names are as follows.
Nathen Weldman born 1859 Russia.(Nathenīs name was Naxcim when he left the UK)
Sarah Weldman born 1865 England or Wales.
Hilda Weldman born 1889 England or Wales.
Daniel Weldman born 1894 England or Wales.
Rebecca Weldman born 1896 Nova Scotia.
David Weldman born 1898 Nova Scotia.
Eva Weldman born 1899 Nova Scotia.
Frances Weldman born 1905 Nova Scotia.
I also heard that they may have changed their name to Woodman. So there are three possibilities that i know of. Maybe thatīs why i canīt find them.
I hope you can help me. Thank you in advance from Fanta

Thank you for your reply and the information of them being in Swansea. I wonder if you may have any other information of them living in Canada after 1901.
Thank you once again from Fanta.

Haven't found your family in census material but putting in "Sarah Cattroll"  into a google search revealed a thread on ancestry.com that sounds like it is your family.  Posts are current from this year so you should be able to make contact and pursue the lead.

Sarah is someone's Ggrandmother and they refer to her as Sarah Cattroll Woodman of Swansea, daughter of Charlotte Davis and Edward Cattroll and husband Lewis Woodman.  In Free BMD there is no record of Lewis Woodman and Sarah Cattroll marrying - only the record posted here of marriage to Wildman.

Other post states that Sarah had 3 sisters, Eva, Henrietta and Hilda and 3 brothers, William Edward, Edward James and Mansel George.

The other post states that 2 of Sarah's daughters were named Eva and Hilda.  They have a photo of GG aunt Hilda who they were told went to New Zealand.  This post states that Sarah and husband Lewis went to Nova Scotia in 1905 from Swansea and then on to Montreal.  Further states that Lewis Woodman is an enigma.  (perhaps an enigma because they have the wrong name????)

Sounds like the family you are searching for - perhaps they are in Montreal on the 1911 census although the last post does mention that they can fill the other poster in on the Canadian and American side of the family.  Possibility that in 1911 the family is in the US?

Debbie

Looking at FreeBMD they have the birth of Hilda Waldman in Jun quarter 1889 and then the birth of Daniel Waldman in Jun quarter of 1894 Carmarthen.

Between these two are 2 more births that might be related.  In the Dec quarter 1890 Swansea is the birth of David Waldman and in the Dec quarter 1892 Carmarthen is the birth of Samuel Waldman.  No deaths listed for these 2.

If you are looking for this couple in the 1891 British census perhaps they are in the Carmarthen area and not Swansea.

Request to look up passenger list for Sarah and Naxcim (could have used his new name Lewis) Waldman

From a different ancestry thread regarding this family and then a reference to the change of name from Waldman to Woodman.  Don't know if these are your posts from May of this year.
