Howson Family
« on: Tuesday 09 June 09 20:37 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I've recently heard about a possible link to my family and the Reverend John Howson (1787-1859). In order to prove/disprove this I'm trying to find out a couple of things. Unfortunately, finding English Records seems more difficult than it is for Scottish Records. Does a service like ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk exist for English Records, or must I purchase each individual Certificate at £7 each?

Anyway, the things I'm trying to find out are:

1) Parents of Reverend John Howson (b. 1787, Clapham, Yorkshire)
2) Details of his brother(s). I've been told that he had a brother William Howson, who moved to New Monklands in Scotland. I have found such an individual who's parents were Thomas Howson and Margaret Burton, but I can't seem to find any information on the parents of Rev. John Howson of  Clapham, Yorkshire in order to link them together.

Hope someone can help,

Alan

Halton Ontario family historian (now deceased) says that Leonard & Alice arrived in Halton area in 1840's.  Have found their children from this census who did indeed come to Canada.  Some ended up in Redwing area, some in Huron Co.  What is confusing is that I have found a death record & burial index for an Alice Howson, Settle, Clapham, Yorkshire in 1842.  Can find no record of a death for either Leonard or Alice in Canada.  Have found christenings for children on Dusty Docs Familysearch.org

How would I go about finding if this is correct Alice and that she didn't immigrate to Canada?
