Doesn't seem to be a directory covering that time period, but did see a reference to "Kellys Directory of Gosport, Alverstoke and Fareham 1931 - 1932" which could be quite useful, unfortunately I can't find one on CD to date, has anyone seen this?

Kelly's county directories were not published every year but usually every 3 or 4 years. There seem to have been editions for Hampshire in 1920, 1923, 1924, 1927, 1931, 1935 & 1939.

They were published as Hampshire directories or combined with neighbouring counties (the 1924 edition is combined with Berkshire and is possibly a reprint of 1923).

ArchiveCDBooks do the 1920 and 1927 editions.

Thanks Newburychap, I've managed to get hold of the names of residents in the particular street I was interested in for that time period, but....the info doesn't match a report done by Gosport council, according to their report on the streets history the residents I was interested in weren't living there yet though what I've found is to the contrary, I think what would be helpful is a ordnance survey map of Gosport between 1924 - 1927 to confirm what I've found, but once again it's proving to be elusive also, so if anyone has a suggestion to locate an ordnance map in this time period it will greatly appreciated  :)

hi Art,

many thanks for your time & efforts, any help most appreciated, according to "Peel road Conservation Area Appraisal", it places number 32 as a newer part of the street C.1930 + but Edwin was there in 1925  ???, unless I'm not understanding something here

I think you will find that Kelly's only listed the householder only, no family or tenants are shown, my grandparents lived at an address from 1899, with all of the children shown as born there, but Kelly's only show the owner/landlord until 1907, when Granddad took over the tenancy.
