My Gran had one, it's double sided with glass front and back. Gran had a photo of hubby one side and No 1 son the other.

Could it be husband? father (deceased)? son, maybe? one was killed in WW1.

Yes, Rabbit, I've got it. Very dear to me that is.

I'm thinking...could be a Bible she is reading, and there is great sadness and courage in her face. The locket is well in view. She has that high neck insert that was on the way out in 1913....so I'm comfortable with the 1921 date.
Be just right for a son who was killed in the war.

What a very lovely thing to have, I have not seen one of those before.  Most interesting thanks for blowing it up for me!

I have seen them with locks of hair in and broaches as well, but never a locket! 

Having said that when my fiance was on active service I always wore one with his picture in, I never took it off!  So same idea but different sort of locket.
