The nearest one seems to have been the Wesleyan Methodist on Trimdon Street, about 300 yards from Hylton Road.

Hi aitnax
You can see the area on the maps at http://gis.durham.gov.uk/website/interMAP/viewer.htm. If you enter the coordinates 438815, 557380 in 'search' it will centre the map on the location of the Wesleyan Chapel in Trimdon Street, which is shown on the 1894-1899 map. This map has all the churches and chapels marked in black so it is easy to see which ones are the nearest.
