looking for photos of ordsall lane
« on: Saturday 06 June 09 12:27 BST (UK) »
i hope some one might be able to help me, I'm looking for photographs of the Egerton Inn a pub which was on Ordsall lane crossing with fairbrother street i think. its long since been pulled down.

I have tried manchester Central library, the Salford history Library in Peel Park and the Chester archive which holds the groves and whitnall archive, but I've had no luck. I was hoping that some one on this web site might have a picture with it in the background or something of a family photo!

My Dad lived at the pub until he was Ten but has no photos of the place, I'm trying to find one for him.

Kind regards

Ali

Ali, welcome to rootschat.

G**gle has an "images" site- if you go to the G**gle mainpage at the top there is a link to images... it would be worth trying there... put the search term of the place you want and maybe you'll be lucky- it's worked for me.

Hi,

There is a book on ebay at present, came across it by chance.

It was called 'Old Salford Pubs 2' by Neil Richardson, Tony Flynn, and Alan Gall.

Whilst it says 'pubs' it does list Ordsall, as one of the places, you could contact seller and ask if it is in the book, if you haven't already seen the book already.
