I was scanning through Milton Ernest marriages at the Beds Archives this afternoon & came across the first Donne marriage by chance. The marriage was by licence & when I checked the marriage licence allegation index I found the other 2 marriages at Houghon Regis,  I noted the info as follows.

23 Sept 1817 at ME, John Donne of Thurleigh to Dinah Haslehurst, both of full age, were married by the vicar of Stevington; witnesses Edward Knight & Mary Haslehurst.

24 July 1820 at HR, John William Donne of St Dunstans, London to Mary Haslehurst of Houghton Regis. Married by Rev John Donne; witnesses William Fossey, Martha Haslehurst & Dinah Donne

25 Aug 1825 at HR,  Matthew Donne of Llanmihangle, Glamorgan to Martha Haslehurst of Houghton Regis. Married by Rev John Donne. Could not decypher the witnesses.

regards John

Hi,
Dinah, Mary and Martha Haselhurst were born in Hanley in Staffordshire. Their parents were John Haselhurst and Ann Turnock who died in childbirth having Martha. They also had a brother called Thomas. Ann Turnock's mother Martha was sister to Edward Knight who was a silk merchant before retiring to Milton Ernest to live with his friend who later left the estate to Edward the present house was built some time later.
Both the Rev John Donne and his brother Mathew Donne (a school teacher) were born at St Donats Castle in Glamorgan. Mathew Donne later became schoolmaster in the National School in Sawtry in Huntingdonshire.
Mathew and Martha Donne were my Great, Great, Great Grandparents.
Regards,
John 1862.

Hi everyone,
I'm also researching the Donne family (my 4 x grandfather was John Donne, Vicar of Houghton Regis church)  I have collected so much information about them over the past 12 years so I'd be happy to help anyone if I can.
I very much welcomed the info regarding the Haslehursts as they have been a bit of a brick wall for me so thankyou John 1862, I guess we must be cousins!! :)

Regards, Tina

Hi,

If you have any more info on the Donne's, Hasselhurst's or even the Delafield's that would be really helpful. The Hasslehursts have been difficult to track down, and I'm stuck at John Donne and Eleanor Owen!

Thanks
