« on: Monday 01 June 09 11:51 BST (UK) »
Good morning!  I have just found the death of a family member, Lilyas M A Howes in Mar Qtr 1934 Mitford District.  I am hoping to find an obituary, can anyone tell me which newspaper(s) cover this area.
Thank you

Hi Sussexgirl,

Swanton Morely would have been covered by "The Dereham Times". Shipdham I'm less sure of, possibly also The Dereham Times, if not the "The Watton and Swaffham Times".

Both of these publications, together with nearly all regional papers in Norfolk now come under ownership of:

Archant Regional Ltd
Prospect House
Rouen Road
Norwich
NR1 1RE

In 1934 the mentioned Watton & Swaffham would have been the Thetford and Watton, you might also want to check the
EDP= Eastern Daily Press, which covered many obituries in the area...
I think the Dereham Times started after this period.

Thanks for your comments Blue-Spirit.  I contacted NRO and they tell me that they dont hold copies or film of old papers and to contact the Norfolk Heritage Centre.  A few years ago I was lucky and found an obit at Kings Lynn Library, that particular death was at Tottenhill so a bit nearer to Lynn I suppose.  I may try there again.
