I suspect that the Mary Anne Bartlett marriage to Robert HILL is the right one here.

I have looked for possible Mary Anne BARTLETT's and found the following:

Baptism Bath, St Michael 30/04/1820.

Mary Anne BARTLETT daughter of Edward BARTLETT and Mary Anne BURR BARTLETT. Abode: New Bond Street. Occupation: gardener.

There were other children baptised by this couple as follows:

08/04/1818 Ann Monk BARTLETT daughter of Edward Bartlett and Mary Anne Burr Bartlett. Abode: New Bond Street. Occupation: Nursery and seedsman.

23/10/1822 Edward BARTLETT son of Edward Bartlett and Mary Anne Burr Bartlett. Abode: New Bond St. Occupation: Gardener and seedsman.

12/12/1824 Edward BARTLETT son of Edward Bartlett and Mary Anne Burr Bartlett. Abode; New Bond St. Occupation: Seedsman.

It looks as if the name of BURR could have been the maiden name of Edward's wife.

There is a baptism of Mary Anne BARTLETT in St Swithin, Walcot. This was on 16/12/1821 and she was the daughter of John and Sarah BARTLETT.

There were other couples with the name of BARTLETT baptising children in these years in both places.

Jo

Hi Jo,

Thank you. Those baptistms definately fit. There seem to have been alot of Bartletts and Mary Ann's!

Can you please give me your source for the marriage and baptisms so I can put it with the records.

I now need to work out how to get english certificates and which will be the key ones! I am in New Zealand.

Regards
Gill

The coverage for Somerset is good and they are actively entering more every month.

I think this is an abbreviation for Duplicate Maker. Someone who works in the clothing/cloth trade.

I believe that they had "dup maker" occuptaion in the paper mills but don't know what they did.

Any other suggestions?

Jo.
