Thank you Trish for all your detective work. It is so much easier when you have access to all the census information. I will digest all this as I am now going shopping too!

I wonder if anyone can find a birth for Mary Ann HAUTREY  about 1821 in Bath. This would at least make the marriage links more likely.

The trouble is kids could just be reg under first names and marriage could just be to a Mary, not Mary Ann.

I would purchase marriage cert for one of them. If you are descended from Emily you must have her marriage/death cert?

The marriage could have been in Gloustershire also and I have been looking mostly in Somerset. There are too many possibilities

Hello Gill,

I have found what appears to be the parents of Robert Hill who were Robert Hill and Charlotte, baptising children in Bath. Details as follows:

Bath, St Michael.

10/09/1826 Ann daughter of Robert and Charlotte Hill, Walcot St, Cutler.
28/10/1827 George son as above.
12/10/1828 Jane, daughter as above.
07/02/1830 Maria, daughter as above.
07/08/1831 James, son as above.
08/07/1832 Emma, daughter as above.
23/04/1834 Ellen daughter as above.

Robert appears to have been baptised at Walcot, St Swithin. An entry for a baptism on 31/03/1824 Robert Hill, son of Robert and Charlotte Hill.

I cannot find Mary Hautrey at all.

Thank you very much Jo and Trish. This couple are my husbands gggrandparents and others have done the family tree following a more recent paternal line. I quite agree I now need to get a certificate to link people and find out Mary Ann's maiden name for certain. It is amazing what you can find out by search ing and asking for help though .

I have found a possible marriage for Robert Hill and Mary Ann BARTLETT in 1849 on freeBDM. There are a couple of Mary Ann BARTLETT's born in Somerset and Bath (Familysearch). I need to follow these up more closely. A good coincidence at least.
