Hello Fiona,

I sent you a personal message on 30th October about your Cronin ancestors, but sadly so far no response from you...  I am wondering whether you may not have received my message?

Questions for Sandra as she is active currently.
The connecting of 4 or 5  Cronin born Ireland syblings to Cronin living in Cumberland, England, is based on a Crilly connection. (Mary Cronin m date ? location ?Thomas Crilly) .  The youngest sibling Francis junior b 1854 ireland  so unlikely to be in an England census before 1861 census. [ however the 1861 has an Joseph Cronin b Cumberland 1836 boarding in Bent st Liverpool Cronin the earliest mention for the family is the 1871 census.? The apparent father Francis Cronin b 1806 Co Down d 1870 Cleator civil parish. any obituary or further information ? is he cited after death on marriage certificates? You mention the family entry in 1891 census  is under Orimen. I couldn’t find  please full source

so I have built up a draft tree
1. Francis Cronin b~ 1806 Co Down d 1879 died at Cleator Moor in 1870 m Ireland Mrs Cronin who possibly d in Ireland
children in birth order except where 1.5 fits if atall
1.1.  Mary Cronin b1843 ireland -4 m Thomas Crilly b 1846 ireland source Census 1871 address Jacktrees rd cleator
children in birth order except where 1.5 first if atall.
Francis Crilly b 1871 Cumberland  [A Thomas crilly m Elizabeth Fearon in 1902 freebmds]
1.2.  Thomas Cronin b 1845 d Egremont. Cumberland d1898.m1869 [2nd qter ]Sarah Jane Atkinson b whitehaven in Whitehaven District. Cumberland in 1869.
children
1.2.1 .Francis Cronin  b 1877 Egremont   1881 census Egremont Drummond st
in the house is James duair b 1860 an iron ore miner  perhaps Thomas’s sister Mary
1.3. Catherine Cronin b 1849 ireland stayed with sister mary in 1871 english census may have returned to Ireland WHY? or emmigrated
1.4. Francis Cronin b 1854 ireland
1.5 possible Patrick Cronin suggestion as he is a witness Any more BMD about him   available about him   ?

Are you able to explain 1901 census who were the Cronins living as children of Sarah Brocklebank High Hensingham Cumberland
Francis Cronin b 1877 son Egremont coal miner hewer
Sarah Cronin 1881 daughter domestic servant Egremont
Elizabeth Cronin daughter domestic servant b1883 Egremont
Catherine Cronin daughter b1889 Egremont

1911 census  4 Croft Terrace Egremont Cumberland
Francis Cronin b 1860 ireland miner at face
Mary Cronin b 1858 Scotland
children
Elizabeth b 1888 Egremont
James Cronin b 1892 Egremont Labourer Miner's Below Ground
Norah Cronin b 1897 Egremont

odds and ends
a Catherine CRONIN m 1913 Whitehaven Henry PARK familysearch.org

did anybody contact gardenboy’s offer re Cumbria Cronin he has only done this single message.

moving to irish records
the name Anastasia was used in the Crilly family in ireland.  i don’t think the Cronin use is connected. as there were at least 1366 associated in 1901 never the less
Cronin   Anastasia              Clasharinka   Ightermurragh   Cork   9   F
Cronin   Anastasia Margt   Bridge Street   Newry West Urban   Down   27   F
are in those census linking Cork And Newry
the irish census 1901 and 1911 are freely available  at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie

there are too man flynns and Cronin to connect without a bible or church record turning up. You should start your own topic I humbly suggest after some more American research.
