I am searching for the first husband of Elizabeth Hall.  She was  born abt 1808 in Sherburn or Thornton (depending on which census you are reading)

Elizabeth's first husband was  (surname) Irleland.  She had known children to him: Mary Ann Ireland born bt 1831 Heslerton? and Hannah Irelland born abt 1832 Heslerton?

Mary Ann Ireland is living with her grandparents Stephen and Ann Hall in Yeddingham 1841 Census (these are Elizabeths parents)

Elizabeth then went on to marry Richard Robinson born abt 1804 Ebberston.  They married in 1836 perhaps in Ebberston.
The family is well documented from then onwards but would like to know the name of Elizabeths first husband and when he died.

Jean

Mary Ann was christened on the 1st July 1830 in West Heslerton and Hannah was christened on the 2nd November 1831 in West Heslerton.

Both christening records show their fathers name as William Ireland and their mothers name as Elizabeth.

There is a marriage of a William Ireland and an Elizabeth Hall on the 17th August 1829 in Tadcaster.

Hope this information is of use.

You can view the above details for yourself at www.familysearch.org

Thank you so much for finding that information.  It ties in nicely with the information I have from the Parish Records of Ebberston.

Records from Ebberston Parish Records
8 Sep 1833 - Baptism of Betsy – daughter of William and Elizabeth Ireland
1 Feb 1834 – Burial of Betsy Ireland (infant)
14 Feb 1834 -  Burial of William Ireland
April 27 1835 – Marriage of Elizabeth Ireland to William Robinson

Until you came up with the information as to Baptism of the first two children, with father's name William I could not prove who the father was.
There are so many Ireland and Robinson families in the area that it was difficult to pin point the correct person.
By any chance is William Ireland one of your ancestors as I would like to find his father?
Thank you once again.
Regards JeanH

Jean,

You are most welcome.  I have not been able to find a connection between your Ireland family and mine as yet.  There most probably is a connection, it is just finding the connection which may prove difficult.

Do you know where William Ireland was born?

Best Wishes

The only information I have on William Ireland is from records from Ebberston Parish Records.

William Ireland died age 33 on 14 Feb 1834.

I also found a baptism record for a William Irleland - son of Michael and Mary Ireland date Aug 18 1792.  I have no proof that this is the same person.

Jean,

I have the William Ireland who was baptised in 1792 - son of Michael and Mary Ireland in my family tree.

According to my research his father Michael Ireland was born in 1767 in Wold Newton and married Mary Ellis year and place of birth unknown.  Michael and Mary were married in 1791 in Willerby.

According to my research William Ireland born 1792 emigrated to Ontario, Canada sometime before 1820 when I have found the birth of his first child in Canada.

Michael Ireland's father Richard is the furthest I have managed so far to trace the Ireland line of my family tree.

Hello from Canada!!

I am furthering my Ireland Family research and have stumbled upon your posting in a search of antiqued maps of Yorkshire (go figure!)

Of course, I joined the forum and can now share with you my Ireland Family info.

I have my line of IRELANDS (nearly) completed to 1753 Wold Newton Yorkshire England with the birth of my G-G-G-G-Grandfather MOSES IRELAND.

Don't know if I can help here - but would love to give it a whirl. Micheal may have been a sibling or cousin of my Moses?? or one of the many Georges that followed!!

cheers

Misha,

A very warm welcome to Rootschat.

I would love to compare the information which we each have on the Ireland Family from Wold Newton.

Can you give me some futher information regarding Moses Ireland born in 1753 in Wold Newton.  I have four Moses Irelands in my family tree but none of their years of births matches your Moses'.

The earliest Moses Ireland I have in my family tree is Moses Ireland born 1773 in Wold Newton.

I am sure that there is a connection between our two Ireland families as my earliest Ireland ancestors also came from Wold Newton.

I also have a transcript of Wold Newton Parish Registers.

Looking foward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes

Good Morning,

Here is what I have about my Moses Ireland.

He was born March 07, 1753 in Wold Newton, Yorkshire, England,
died June 06, 1830 in Bempton, West Yorkshire, England.
Married FRANCES SAWDEN July 31, 1773 in Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.  She was born July 05, 1752 in Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England, and died February 24, 1824 in Bempton, West Yorkshire, England.

He was christened on his 20th birthday -  March 7 1773 - just months before his marriage.

So MAYBE this is your Moses too??? as your notes indicate a Moses BORN the same year as my Moses was Christened (things like that happen in this arena of insanity)

children as follows:

1.     i.      RICHARD3 IRELAND, b. 1774, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
Christening: April 28, 1774, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England
2.   ii.   SUSANNAH IRELAND, b. 1776, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
3.   iii.   GEORGE IRELAND, b. 1778, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England;
      d. March 31, 1847, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
- (This is my first George)
4.   iv.   MARY IRELAND, b. 1779, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England;
     d. November 09, 1824, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
5.   v.   ANN IRELAND, b. 1782, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
vi.   WILLIAM IRELAND, b. 1784, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
      More About WILLIAM IRELAND:
Christening: August 21, 1784, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England

This is as far back as we have gotten.  One of my uncles and the wife of a cousin and I have, at separate times been on this research.

I've LOVE to get further back than my Moses.

cheers
M
